Solar System Ambassadors
Karolyn Evans
Karolyn Evans was born in Illinois and went to school in Minnesota (Bethany Lutheran College), Arizona (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) and Colorado (Denver University). She received her Aerospace Engineering Degree (BS) in December of 2001 and started working at a major aerospace corporation in Marietta, Georgia the following spring. She worked in the Structural Loads and Criteria organization on the next generation stealth fighter. In the winter of 2003, she moved with her husband to Denver, Colorado and worked on various proposal projects for Earth orbiting communication satellites, missions to mars (MAVEN, InSight, Mars 2020), Jupiter (JUNO), moon (GRAIL) and beyond. She was also given the opportunity to once again to work on another international stealth fighter. Karolyn attended Denver University and received a degree in Mechatronics/System Engineering (MS) in August 2010. Karolyn is currently working on the new shuttle cargo vehicle (Dream Chaser) that will launch in 2020 to the ISS. The Dream Chaser program will provide materials and scientific research to the astronauts/cosmonauts on the space station. Who knows, maybe one day we will be able to cure all the known medical diseases of our day. Outside of work she enjoys engaging in outreach programs at local-area high schools. In her free time, she enjoys the company of her husband, their 2 dogs (Labrador retriever and a Catahoula Leopard), and her martial arts.
