Jonathan Ward
Jonathan Ward is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and an avid space historian. Jonathan is the author of four highly-acclaimed books on space history. Most recently, he partnered with Eileen Collins on her memoirs, "Through the Glass Ceiling to the Stars: The Story of the First American Woman to Command a Space Mission." He also co-authored "Bringing Columbia Home: The Untold Story of a Lost Space Shuttle and Her Crew." He studied physics at Carnegie-Mellon University and Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He obtained a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Denver. Jonathan's interest in space exploration dates back to when he first saw the Echo I satellite in the night sky in his early childhood. When he was 14, Jonathan was the youngest person ever selected to be a Summer Intern and tour guide at the National Air and Space Museum. Jonathan drove a Lunar Rover on the National Mall before he was old enough to drive a car! Jonathan’s aim has always been to share his passion for space exploration with the public through writing, conversation, demonstrations, and presentations. He has spoken at many national space conferences, and he is a lecturer and resident astronomer for a couple of ocean cruise liners. Jonathan lives in Greensboro, NC, where he is president of the local astronomy club.
