Ken Alderson is a self-educated amateur astronomer who is past president of the award-winning Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS). During his presidency, the LAS won the 2013 Astronomy Magazine Out of This World award, developed a forty-acre astronomy center in southern Indiana and established an Urban Astronomy Center in a state park in Louisviile. Ken is a past member of the advisory board of the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium at the University of Louisville. He is an Ambassador at the Parklands of Floyds Fork in Louisville where he serves as Park Astronomer. He loves to take astronomy to the streets and enjoys presenting public outreach programs.
