Solar System Ambassadors
Denise Speechley
Denise has always been fascinated with space, space travel, and the Solar System from a young age. She especially loves to share her enthusiasm about space exploration and the solar system with children. One of her favorite activities was organizing the "Student Signatures in Space" program for a local school in her community in which all the students signed a poster provided by NASA and was later flown on Space Shuttle Discovery, STS-120, Oct. 23 - Nov 7, 2007. Denise happened to be visiting Johnson Space Center in Houston the day STS-120 landed and was able to watch the televised landing while there and had the pleasure to meet a mission control member for the flight. Upon completion of the space shuttle flight, the Student Signature poster was returned to the school along with a photo of the astronaut crew that flew with the signatures in space along with a NASA flight certification verifying that the signatures flew on the Space Shuttle. Denise believes children are the pioneers of the future and wants to help future generations continue to explore opportunities and learn all they can of human space flight and our magnificent and wonderous Universe.
