Carolyn Kaichi comes from a background in the planetarium field and is currently involved with the Hawaii Academy of Science in Program Management for the Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair. She would like to help promote the sciences of astronomy and space science, taking advantage of the International Year of Astronomy, to not only encourage more people into becoming aware of these topics but also to dispel some of the misconceptions that people may have about space science. Kaichi has been involved with many astronomy based public events such as Deep Impact, the Venus and Mercury Transits, Mars Encounters, and planetary conjunctions. She has also been a regular columnist on astronomical information with the local newspaper.
