After retiring from her administrative assistant position, Janet Howard renewed her interest in space exploration that began as a high school student. Through the years, Janet kept up with space exploration and NASA programs. The bug bit hard after her first astronomy camp sponsored by the Alumnae Association of the University of Arizona in Tucson on Mt. Lemmon. While at these camps Janet also participated in the Catalina Sky Survey which hunts for near earth objects (NEOs) and catalogues these objects with the Minor Planet Center (MPC). Currently, she is working as a volunteer searching for cometary particles with Stardust@home at the University of California at Berkeley. Janet also is a Planetary Society member. She attend as many star parties as possible and is an associate of the Memphis Astronomical Society. Recently she completed an astronomy-cosmology course through the Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
