Kevin Sullivan
Kevin Sullivan spends his days looking for water - so he can clean it up. For twenty years his profession has been the finding, assessing and cleaning up of polluted groundwater at contaminated sites both in the US and in more than ten other countries. "I've always like the parallels of subsurface investigation and space exploration. You have to thoroughly design your investigation mission, choose your survey tools, and then carefully interpret your data - all while never actually being in contact with what you study!" The water theme has also influenced Kevin's interest in space, as he has carefully followed missions to Mars, the Galileo mission that identified water on Europa, and the Stardust mission which will tell us more about comets. Two boyhood dreams of Kevin's came true recently when he attended the launch of STS 105 with his son, and when he met Neil Armstrong at a lecture in Berkeley. Kevin lives in Northern California with his wife and three children.
