Joseph Skovira
Dr. Joseph F. Skovira graduated with a BSEE from the University of Notre Dame in 1979. He worked in the field of embedded microprocessor control while pursuing an MSEE from Syracuse (1983) in microprocessor design. From 1985 through 1987 he was in engineering management and, in 1987, he was awarded a fellowship to return to graduate school. From 1987 through 1990, he studied at Cornell University, completing a Ph.D. in 1990 in the fields of high performance computing and neurobiology. Shortly thereafter, he began conducting research on high performance computing architectures. In 1994, he joined a small team at Cornell University responsible for cooperative research in high performance computing. His current interests include parallel and cluster scheduling algorithms, computational neurophysiology, and algorithms for data analysis. He also enjoys spending time with his two children, antique motorcycle restoration, sailing, backyard astronomy, and treehouse construction.
