Solar System Ambassadors
Monte Pescador
Monte Pescador has dreamed of being an astronaut since he was 2 years old, seeing his first rocket launch. To that end, he attended graduate school at University of Colorado in 2002 before having to drop out due to medical concerns, but not before getting second authorship on a study of the microbial ecology of soils in high elevations. While he never achieved that dream, he continues to work to pass on his dream to others, to explore space and to continue to wonder at the vast number of unknowns yet to be discovered. His focus in the SSA program is on passing on his knowledge and curiosity to the kids of the next generations, as he puts it, “Ramblin’ Rod style,” in his NASA logo jacket and with a goofy grin on his face as he answers the questions kids have about our place in the universe, how far we have come, and how far we have yet to go.
