A Solar System Ambassador since 2002, Ginny was spirited by her uncle's engineering work with NASA's manned space flight missions in the early days through NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, Ginny's involvement with astronomy and space exploration began in 1995 when she took a continuing education astronomy course at Emory University's Evening at Emory program lead by Georgia Tech Research Institute astronomer Dr. Jim Sowell. Afterward, she began volunteering her time as an observatory assistant at Fernbank Science Center under the mentorship of astronomer Dr. Richard Williamon. Additionally, she served as an officer with the Atlanta Astronomy Club from 1996-1998. A former astronomy laboratory instructor at Georgia State University, she completed her self-designed interdisciplinary studies program focusing on Planetary Science and Communications in May, 2002. After a seven-year hiatus Ginny returned to graduate school to earn her M.S. in Geology at Georgia State, which she completed in 2012. Her research focus was on Martian geomorphology and paleodischarge estimation of fluvial outburst channels on the Martian surface. Professionally, Ginny serves as an Engineering Technician for Southern Company Gas in Atlanta. In addition to her professional work, she serves on the Atlanta Geological Society Professional Registration Committee. She also volunteers with the Stride Ahead Equine Therapy program at Little Creek Farm and as a part of the production team for Main Street Theatre in Tucker. Her hobbies include Crocheting, Pottery Making, Woodworking, and Gardening.
