I am a high school science teacher at Kealakehe High School on Hawaiʻi Island, specializing in astronomy and physics. I earned my degrees in Physics and Astronomy from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016. I began substitute teaching in 2018 for its flexibility, but during the 2020-2021 pandemic school year, I accepted a long-term substitute position and built strong connections with my physics students. This inspired me to pursue teaching full-time and to earn my Master’s of Education from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in Secondary Science in 2024. I strive to make space science engaging and accessible to students through hands-on projects and inquiry-based learning. I facilitate research projects, such as exoplanet transit observations using data we collect with Los Cumbres Observatory, and collaborate with programs like Maunakea Scholars. My goal is to inspire curiosity and foster a deeper understanding of space and science among my students.
