Avery Abramson

Originally from Washington, D.C., Avery is now at UT Austin pursuing an Astronomy B.S.A. with a minor in science communication. She is a current member of Dr. Steven Finkelstein’s Galaxy Evolution Vertically Integrated Project (GEVIP) and a past member of Dr. Michael Montgomery’s White Dwarf Stars Freshman Research Initiative. Avery has served as an officer for the Astronomy Students Association (ASA) and continues to be involved as a co-representative for astronomy undergraduates. As a science communicator, Avery has presented posters at conferences detailing her research on high-redshift galaxies, solar wind, and lunar swirls. She has also written for several NASA-sponsored websites on the benefits of STEM activities for high schoolers. More recently, she collaborated with FOX 13 Utah and Salt Lake City to write and film a feature about simulating research on Mars in the nearby desert.
