Phoebe Heretz is a returning student studying Physics and Astronomy at SUNY New Paltz. She is an undergraduate research assistant at the Harvard Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, studying galaxy evolution. She is also affiliated with a global team of protoplanetary disk researchers called JDISCS that received their first James Webb Space Telescope data in early 2023. Phoebe is a passionate science communicator who leads observatory nights on the SUNY New Paltz campus, runs planetarium shows, and more! She hopes to pursue a PhD in observational research astrophysics when she completes her degree at SUNY in 2024. Her first degree is in songwriting, and she still participates in the local music scene.
