Solar System Ambassadors
Samantha Hunsinger
Samantha Hunsinger soared into a love for space and NASA after taking a flight in her Grampie's Cessna 152 at 4 years old. Just like many kids, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would confidently answer, "an astronaut!". This spark in Sami never died, instead it just ignited. She grew up watching shuttle launches on TV, and every project she did in school somehow always related to space or rockets. Her friends and classmates knew her as the kid who liked NASA, and she wore that title proudly. Science experiments have always been her favorite, as she loves using her creativity to problem solve. Hunsinger earned her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan and now works as a Manufacturing Engineer. She takes pride in working on the new electric-generation of the automotive industry, and even has the opportunity to work on the potential Lunar Mobility Vehicle (LMV) looking at things like regolith for the Artemis missions. She loves sharing her passion for space exploration with others and does so through her social media content and activities in the Detroit area. Sam remembers being little, and how hard it was not seeing people like her (women) in STEM, and loves to stress the importance of diversity in the field to inspire others.
