Solar System Ambassadors
Megan Howard
Megan Howard currently teaches Physics and Earth/Space Science for Northern State University's Department of E-Learning. In this role, she works virtually with students from school districts across the state of South Dakota. Her favorite space-related topic to bring up while teaching Physics is Spaghettification (the tidal effects around a black hole), and her favorite part of the Astronomy unit in Earth/Space Science is explaining the Sagan quote "we are made of star-stuff" through the lens of stellar nucleosynthesis. When she is not teaching, Ms. Howard is an active volunteer for her local Girl Scout council where she runs STEM and Outdoor programming both in-person and virtually for girls across North and South Dakota. Her favorite activities from the Space Science Girl Scout badges are forming the phases of the Moon out of creme-filled cookies and using an entire roll of toilet paper to try and make a scale model of the solar system.
