Hilde García
Hilde García is a Cuban-born American raised in Hialeah, Florida. She didn’t learn English until she was five. By age eight, she was tutoring her parents to pass their citizenship exam, and by fifteen, she had translated every official document for every Cuban immigrant who landed on her doorstep. She was the first college graduate in her family, graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. She also holds a teaching credential from CAL State Teach, CSU LA, and a certificate from the National Institute of STEM Education. And she also enjoys writing children’s books. She has been a teacher for 16 years and currently teaches 4th grade in a Spanish dual language program at an elementary school in Burbank where she is also the Science Day and Science Fair Coordinator as well as the STEAM Committee chair. She and her husband are proud parents of twins. Her usual day consists of teaching, writing, science experiments, laundry, dishes, and grading papers.
