Solar System Ambassadors
Ann Bruner-Welch
Ann loves space sciences and heliophysics. She was raised in a family of solar and astrophysicists, and satellite builders. Her dad’s boss even went up in the Space Shuttle as a mission specialist. Family activities included, among many other things, science fiction, building and launching model rockets, road trips to Cape Canaveral to watch her dad’s rockets being launched, or pretending to be on some fantastical space mission in her homemade cardboard rocket. As a teen, she was an avid astronomy enthusiast as part of a Scouts Explorer Post, looking through telescopes, visiting planetariums, and watching the night sky. She has remained intrigued since. Additionally, Ann, in her retirement, is very active in Scouting, especially in the realm of Disability Awareness. She serves on the National Special Needs and Disabilities Committee, specializes in Autism studies, and is working on becoming a Certified Autism Specialist. She loves to teach people how to work with folks with various disabilities and special needs, and is looking forward to sharing this expertise within the Solar System Ambassadors program. Ann is a full time grandmother of a preschooler, a supportive mother of two children, and loving wife of over 35 years. In addition she cares for her elderly mom. She also enjoys wood carving, railroading (especially live-steam), Scouting, gardening, teaching, and is a Ham Radio operator with her son. She enjoys learning new things, looking up and sharing what’s there, along with facilitating inclusivity for others.
