Caitlin Dare Mallory spent her childhood crawling through lava tubes and climbing on radio telescope arrays in the Cascade mountains of Northern California. At the age of 12, she won a trip to Space Camp, where she caught the astronomy bug! Her passion for astronomy was reignited when she met her husband in 2013, and learned how to use his homemade dobsonian telescope. After the Texas Star Party in 2017, she was encouraged to try astronomy outreach on her own. One week later, she got her very own 8" dobsonian telescope and showed up at an event hosted by the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society (CSAS). Today, she is now the Director of Outreach for CSAS and is pursuing a degree in Physics at Pikes Peak State College. She is passionate about encouraging women (both young and young-at-heart) to pursue astronomy as a hobby or as a profession, and making astronomy more accessible and less intimidating for those who are not STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) professionals.
