Haley Bilbray
Haley Bilbray, she/her, is currently a high school chemistry facilitator at project-based learning school in North Texas. Her passion for science bloomed later in life, primarily while completing her undergraduate Chemistry degree at UT Dallas. She was a part of the UTeach Dallas program where students earn their math or science degree along with a STEM Teaching certificate. This was the perfect opportunity to nerd out about science and also learn how to teach and inspire the next generation at the same time. After teaching chemistry at a STEM Academy for a few years, Ms. Bilbray was approached to take an astronomy graduate course as part of the Master's in Science Education program. This inspired her to complete her MEd, an MAT in Curriculum and Instruction, and also take coursework towards an Endeavor STEM Teaching certificate. Fast forward a few years, Haley now teaches at a project based school in North Texas where learners are empowered to solve real world problems, pursue their passions, and practice leadership in their community. She is part of the #SciSquad where the school's four science facilitators plan cross-curricular projects such as an Astrobiology project for learners to explore potential life in the universe using biology, chemistry, and physics knowledge. Ms. Bilbray keeps busy with several hobbies, including playing with her fluffy dog, knitting preemie baby hats for hospitals, crocheting plarn mats for those experiencing homelessness, sponsoring her school's Gender & Sexuality Alliance, and relaxing with video games and board games.
