Brian Lafitte
Brian Lafitte has been interested in space since he was six years old. His father would answer his countless questions about space, adding his own curiosities which only fueled Brian's imagination. He looked back through his memories, to all those stories of the moon, constellations, cosmic impacts, extinctions, the rebirth of life, and evolution...and realized how small people are on the grand scale of the known universe. He cannot remember a time in his life when he has not been fully absorbed in astronomy. Brian got his first telescope at age eight. In August 2021, He joined a local telescope club, the Back Bay Amateur Astronomers, and has been performing outreach events ever since. He feels like he has been given a unique chance to teach a whole new generation of astronomers. People have so much technology at their disposal nowadays, every phone has a camera and the capability to locate objects in space. People can even see live feeds of Earth from the International Space Station! Brian feels like he can help make a difference by sharing astronomy with others and possibly help them ignite the spark that excites them to pursue a science career. Take any old telescope and point it into space, now find 20 people that do not know each other. Have them all look through the telescope and explain what they are looking at.
