Liz was born and raised in Durban, South Africa, and attended the University of Natal, Durban (now the University of Kwa Zulu Natal), obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relations.  She was fascinated by the Moon from a young age and watching the Space Shuttle launches shown on news television.

She and her husband and baby son moved to the USA at the end of 2000, and reside in Wilson, North Carolina.  The family volunteers with Civil Air Patrol where she currently serves as the North Carolina Wing Government Relations Advisor and Assistant Wing Public Affairs Officer, and is the ex-commander of Tar River Composite Squadron. The family are self-confessed space (especially NASA) and sci-fi nuts.  Liz enjoys astrophotography – her favorite subject is our Moon.   She loves to share their interest with others.
