Rachael Laustrup holds a Master’s in International Human Rights with most of her professional experience being within the fields of social/environmental justice and education. Ever since serving as a science teacher on the island of Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Rachael has strived to merge her energy for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education with the global human rights sector, especially with regard to low-lying Pacific Islands that are at the forefront of climate change and rising sea levels. She currently works as a virtual College Counselor and instructor for the same high school in Micronesia where she helps junior and senior students navigate higher education preparations, discover exciting career paths, and recognize the power they have in shaping the future of their islands.
