Heather Westad was born and raised in Georgia. From a young age, she was taught to always strive to learn as much as she could. While she always loved a good fictional story, her true love was history and current events. As a child, Heather listened to talk radio and watched every minute of news she could. During her later elementary years, her interest in space was piqued when she and her friend signed up for the school science fair with their project about the Apollo 13 mission. This was popular at the time because of the release of the Apollo 13 movie. They devoured all the information they could about this space mission and even came away with a blue ribbon. Fast forward many years later and now she is a first grade teacher. Teaching children and engaging them in the world around them has been a passion of hers for the past 16 years. Using current events and earth science, she has been able to introduce children to so many new and exciting things. Every day is an adventure here on planet Earth and she feels blessed to get to experience the freshness anew every school year when getting to see it all through the eyes of little ones.
