Solar System Ambassadors
Cheri Davis
Dr. Cheri Davis has been selected to serve as a Solar System Ambassador which will provide an opportunity to share discoveries and advancements with visitors to Texas A&M University-Commerce Planetarium and the local community. As an undergraduate, Davis began developing an interest in NASA programs after planning a trip for a group of students to participate in teacher lock-in at Johnson Space Center in Houston. The effectiveness and desire to learn more was amazing with the group that participated in the event. Each returned to campus with new ideas and lessons to use in their future classrooms. A few years later, and while advancing her studies, Davis applied for a Texas Space Grant Fellowship for support to help with her graduate degree. Davis was a 3-year TSGC Fellow recipient. When Davis accepted the position working at the University, she was provided an opportunity to give back by becoming a NASA Texas Space Grant Consortium member. “One of my favorite benefits from being a NASA TSGC member is the option for our students to apply for scholarships or fellowships for their education. We have several students granted awards each year.” Davis has been at Texas A&M University-Commerce since 2005 and currently serves as the Planetarium Director.
