Solar System Ambassadors
Dana Bostic
Dana Bostic has been interested in space since a very young age and read the "S" encyclopedia (yes, that old) so much the pages were worn. He built several rockets while in school and loved watching the space shuttle launches on TV. He spent many nights in eastern North Carolina with a planisphere, laying on the ground, finding constellations. While in college he took several formal astronomy classes, with weekly outings for observing. He was involved with local observing, sharing with his kids, even taking them on a tour of Lowell Observatory on a family trip out west. Dana took his wife to see the solar eclipse in 2017 where about 25 people gathered around his telescope while he discussed what was happening. This trip could not have gone better, and cemented his love of astronomy, pushing him to get further involved. Dana really enjoys outreach to the community and sharing the night sky with laser pointer in one hand and the other working a telescope, discussing what we see.
