Voula Saridakis grew up in Florida where frequent road trips to Kennedy Space Center inspired her to pursue a career related to space. She graduated with a B.A. in History at Cornell University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in the Department of Science, Technology, and Society at Virginia Polytechnic and State University. In addition to being a a historian of science and technology by training, she has taught a wide range of history courses at Virginia Tech and Lake Forest College including history of science, women and gender in science, and world civilizations. Currently, she is a curator in the Collections department at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and is part of the team that is responsible for the care and interpretation of MSI's 35,000+ artifacts. Her favorite area of the museum is the Henry Crown Space Center, current location of the Apollo 8 capsule and other remarkable space artifacts. With her academic background in the history of astronomy and excitement for spaceflight, she has given lectures and has been interviewed by local newspapers, radio and TV news outlets. She looks forward to future opportunities where she can share her passion for space and its exploration.
