Dan Shields
Dan Shields’s parents woke him up to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the Moon. At the age of four, his father picked him up and showed him the Big Dipper. Since then, Dan followed Apollo, Apollo-Soyuz, Skylab, has an autographed photo of John Young and Bob Crippen after the maiden flight of the Space Shuttle Columbia, and has been a keen follower of robotic and crewed space missions. He is a past president of the Georgetown University Astronomical Society. He enjoys showing family, friends, and the public the joys of astronomy with his 60mm refractor telescope, and has an interest in the art and science--and joy!--of science communications and making space science fun and accessible to all.
