Solar System Ambassadors
Jeffrey Gonyea
Jeff won an essay contest while in high school answering the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” His prize was an internship with an Astronomerwho worked at the New England Science Center. Jeff’s love of space turned an intership into a job running the planetarium at the museum for a year and a half while still in high school. After getting two degrees in Business and Accounting, Jeff joined the Air Force instead of pursuing accounting as a career. Jeff earned his commission through Air Force Officer Training School and spent a total of seven years on active duty. Upon getting out of the Air Force, Jeff moved to Colorado Springs, where he returned to his first love of space by volunteering as a museum docent. He also writes children’s space-themed books and magazines, performs outreach in the community and hosts sidewalk astronomy with 4” and 10” telescopes.
