Greg R. Flick earned his BA in Geology from SUNY at Buffalo and MS in Geology from Syracuse University. Following his career of 20 years as a professional geologist, Mr. Flick has been teaching Regents Earth Science (Honors and non-Honors) for 17 years at North Syracuse Junior High School. A strong advocate of inquiry-based science instruction, he involves his students in a variety of innovative projects. In addition, Mr. Flick writes and performs his own Earth Science song parodies and uses pre-recorded music to illustrate important scientific principles and enhance his science instruction. He has presented workshops on the topic for Onondaga-Cortland-Madison Board of Cooperative Educational Services, and several times at the annual meeting of the Science Teachers Association of NYS (STANYS). He is a member of the Geological Society of America and STANYS. He was awarded the 2013 "Outstanding Teacher" Award by the Technology Alliance of Central New York. He also attended Honeywell Corporation’s Educators at Space Academy (SpaceCamp) and received NASA training to display and work with the moon rocks in the classroom with their Lunar and Meteorite Disk Program.
