Solar System Ambassadors
David Stoner
David Stoner is a former teacher and now a Library Division Manager in the Clearwater Public Library System, where he also does space travel and astronomy-related programming. From an early age, he had a great love of space, NASA, doing book reports on the planets, and stargazing way past his bedtime. His first foray into sidewalk astronomy was at age 11, showing neighborhood kids the Moon through his 2" reflector in the daytime! He has had a love of showing the universe to the public ever since and is very active in local sidewalk astronomy. His library director graciously provides him with a battery of telescopes that he uses for public sky observing STEM outreach. He has also placed telescopes into the library collection for public check-out. He has run model rocket programs for youth and does telescope demonstrations at local schools and museums. He encourages the public to bring their own telescopes to help them get to know their own equipment better. He is readily available for library outreach, doing talks on NASA and space, and will always bring telescopes for demonstration and night-time observing.
