Bruce Stedman attended schools in Maine graduating from University of Maine Farmington in 1970. He taught science, math, and computer programming for 31 years with 30 years in the Monmouth, Maine School System. During that time, he became president of the Maine Science Teachers Association, a member of the New England Science Teachers Council preparing for various events including a regional science convention in Boston. Bruce was science department chairperson from 1980–1988 at Monmouth Academy retiring in 2001 from the Monmouth School System. After retiring from teaching, he worked in travel and leisure in Rockland, Maine for 10 years as an operations manager. While there Bruce volunteered for local organizations and presented science and flight demonstration programs for inhouse school groups and outreach for local community schools. In 2014 after moving to Sunset Beach, North Carolina, Bruce started volunteering at Ingram Planetarium operating and presenting ‘star shows’ in the dome, telescope demonstrations, and nighttime star parties. He also created educational programs for school groups visiting the planetarium In 2017 Bruce moved to Mooresville, North Carolina and volunteered as a presenter at the Lynn Planetarium, Schiele Museum until June of 2019. He and his wife now do ‘space’ related shows at local elementary schools and Mooresville Public Library.
