Lorna Salamán is a STEM and Robotics Educator with more than 15 years of experience teaching Puerto Rican students from all school levels. Her higher education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science (University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez) and Master's Degree in Theory and Research (University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras). Since 2007 has been Coach and Mentor of Robotics Teams. For her outstanding performance, she was selected to be Judge at the VEX Robotics World Championship (2011) and received the Mentor of the Year Award of the Puerto Rico Institute of Robotics (2015). She has served as Secretary and Member at Large of the Board of Directors of the Caribe Girl Scouts Council. Because of her dedication has been distinguished with awards such as the Outstanding Volunteer, Appreciation Pin and Honor Pin. During the academic year 2018-2019, she was the Volunteer on charge of the Council's Astronomy Clubs. Currently, she prepares and delivers STEM workshops for the EcoExploratorio (Puerto Rico Science Museum). Some of the topics include: Space Exploration, Robotics, Computer Programming, 3D Design, 3D Printing, Modular Robotics, Makerspace, and Augmented and Virtual Reality.
