Solar System Ambassadors
Karynne Muncy
Having moved to Florida as an infant, Karynne Muncy has many early memories of the space program. She remembers going outside on launch days and looking up into the sky to see the rocket or shuttle. That has never changed, even to this day. Now, she has a son in college studying mechanical engineering and robotics and hoping to work in the space industry. Her family has annual passes to Kennedy Space Center, and they go so often that sometimes she thinks they should move closer. They have met many astronauts whose stories are very inspiring and informative. Quite a few of the astronauts have talked about how they didn't get in the first time they applied. She has used their stories when talking to students about not giving up and working harder to achieve their goals. Karynne is a teacher at heart even though she is not a full-time teacher anymore. she still substitute teaches because she enjoys working with children and teens. She enjoys volunteering in her community. When she first heard about Solar System Ambassadors, she could hardly wait to apply. She wants to learn more about space exploration and share it with everyone. In her spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking, traveling (her goal is to go see all the shuttles in their museums), spending time with her family and going to the Kennedy Space Center.
