Amber Lounsbery
Amber Lounsbery has always had a love of science and and promotes it in the programming she currently does as a Member Support Specialist with the Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons Council. Ms. Lounsbery was able to hone her science skills as the Outreach Coordinator at the EROS center in rural Sioux Falls. There she provided daily tours and hands-on science to the general public and students. Prior to this she served as the Program Coordinator for the Action Arts & Science Program with the Washington Pavilion and was trained as a NASA Heliophysics Ambassador. Also, while there her program won a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award for excellence in afterschool programming for integrating arts and science education. This program reached 500 low income and minority students each week within the Sioux Falls School District. Amber spent the majority of her nearly 20-year professional career, as a South Dakota State University Extension Educator with the 4-H program in southeast South Dakota. Ms. Lounsbery is well versed in the areas of informal education for all ages. She has had many opportunities speak on the local, state and national levels through her work. Ms. Lounsbery holds a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a Minor in Communication Studies and Theatre from South Dakota State University.
