Jessica Townsend fell in love with astronomy after visiting Griffith Observatory at 8 years old and became hooked while looking through a telescope for the first time at Jupiter. After high school she did international humanitarian aid work with children visiting seven countries. On the way, she fell in love with the Earth and wanted to know more. When Curiosity landed on Mars she was inspired to focus her education on planetary sciences. She currently works at Griffith Observatory.
