Joseph Thomas was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and was raised in Southern Indiana, specifically New Albany, where he went to Providence High School and New Albany High School. After graduating from New Albany, he attended Indiana University Southeast and graduated with a bachelor's in History in 2015. Since then, he has been working as a teacher for elementary and middle schoolers in New Albany, Indiana. Though his degree is in History, his passion for science, space, and technology has earned him a reputation as the "science guy" in the school. He has been supporting learners by empowering them to lead projects that involve everything from weather balloon launches and recoveries, creating their own rockets and alternative rocket fuel, and even building trebuchets to launch pumpkins across fields. He has also been pioneering a local "star party" in which families can come and explore what mysteries the sky above may hold!
