Mrs. Lori Nelson is a fifth-grade science teacher at Roger B. Chaffee Elementary School in Huntsville, Alabama. She received her Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and her Master's degree in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University. During her ten year teaching career, Mrs. Nelson has demonstrated a commitment to STEM education through her classroom instruction, applying for grants, pursuing professional development, creating school wide space themed STEM events, and sharing information with other teachers through presentations at state and national conferences. Her awards include the National Space Club Educator of the Year, the Air Force Association State Teacher of the Year (Alabama), and the National Science Teachers Association Maitland Simmons Award.
