Thomas Haugh
Tom Haugh's father was in the US Army so Tom grew up traveling the world. He continued his travels as an airman in the USAF and after retirement from the Air Force became a software engineer. His most recent projects were flight software for the AC-130U gunship and software that simulates radios for US Air Force and US Army training systems. Now retired from the software business he can concentrate on sharing his passion for Astronomy. Tom's first recollection of space was as a youngster being taken outside one evening to view a point of light traveling across the sky - Sputnik - and he has been an avid space fan ever since. Now settled down and living in one place he has designed and built an observatory in his backyard and submits asteroid and comet observations to the Minor Planet Center. He is currently the outreach coordinator for the NorthWest Florida Astronomy Association (NWFAA). He schedules and coordinates star gazes and presentations at local state parks, and for schools, scout groups or anyone else who wants to learn a little about astronomy or space science. As a NWFAA volunteer he supports the Emerald Coast Science Center's planetarium nights and gives monthly astronomy talks at a local library.
