Bob Swanson teaches physical science and astronomy at Mississippi State University. In addition to teaching experience at the university, community college and high school levels, Bob spent a decade as a professional meteorologist -- working as a TV weatherman in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Johnson City, Tennessee, as well as serving as assistant weather editor at a nationwide newspaper. Swanson earned bachelor’s degrees in both physics and philosophy from The University of Scranton and a master’s degree in meteorology from Penn State University. In his spare time, Swanson writes and records children’s music about weather and astronomy, giving science presentations to local schools, libraries and community groups. He and his wife live in Starkville and are the parents of three sons.
