Mike Ryan is a lifelong amateur astronomer and space exploration enthusiast. He fell in love with the stars and planets at the then-new Morrison Planetarium in San Francisco at age four, got his first telescope at five, and has been enthralled and engaged ever since. Mike pursued a career as an aerospace-defense systems engineer and automotive engineer, but has also served on the astronomy staffs at Morrison Planetarium (twice!) at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, and at the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, as well as volunteering for decades with the astronomy outreach program at the College of San Mateo. He has been an enthusiastic planetarium lecturer at each of those locations. Despite failing eyesight and difficulty walking, Mike still enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others, through teaching and training incoming enthusiasts. The exploration and discovery of space science and aerospace achievement have been his greatest fulfillment, and he is thrilled to share them with others.
