Debbie Reynolds has been an educator since 1986 but continues to be a student of learning. Her experience has primarily been in middle level science and math, with a seven-year period as the high school gifted coordinator. Space and STEM education are very important to her, and its been her passion to expose students to as many opportunities as possible while making real-world connections. In her current position as a seventh-grade science teacher, Reynolds is participating in a Year in Space as one of thirty-six educators on the Space Expedition Educator Crew with the Space Center Houston. She also participated in Survival U through the Space Center Houston, the NASA Arizona State University Mars Symposium and Field Study for Educators, and NASA LiftOff 2017. This past April, Reynolds was selected to attend the ULA Atlas V resupply mission to International Space Station. Reynolds serves as the science fair coach for her school and runs an after-school program. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Reynolds is the flight director for the school's space simulator. She is currently using her NASA experiences to help develop a Mission to Mars to be used in the simulator and incorporated into the curriculum. The opportunity to share space and STEM-based learning experiences and resources with students and other educators is very exciting.
