Bill was born in Frankfurt Germany and has been involved in astronomy outreach for 20 years. He is a graduate of Sandusky High School served in the USAF stationed at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Edwards AFB in the deserts of California. During his time in the desert he was fortunate to have worked on many programs including the X-33 and numerous other space propulsion systems. Under these pristine dark skies he developed a passion for astronomy and space exploration. A former Docent, at Mt Wilson Observatory above Pasadena California, he was also the Manufacturing Lead for the robotic arms flown on the 2004 Mars Rovers, Spirit and Opportunity as well as the Phoenix Lander and Mars Science Lander. Currently, he is a Planetarium Specialist at the Lake Erie Nature & Science Center in Bay Village. His passions extend outside the planetarium dome to observational astronomy as the LENSC resident telescope specialist. He also currently leads public telescope viewings and conducts classes on telescope usage and best practices. His goal is to hopefully inspire the next generation of scientists and explorers while helping the public understand the universe and our place in it.
