Sian Proctor
Dr. Sian Proctor is a geoscience professor at South Mountain Community College (SMCC) in Phoenix, Arizona. She has a B.S. in Environmental Science, a M.S. in Geology, and a Ph.D. in Science Education. She currently appears as a featured scientist on public television and cable network science shows. Dr. Proctor has a passion for space exploration and spent this past summer at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum doing astronomy education outreach. She was a finalist for the 2009 NASA Astronaut Program and was the Education Outreach Officer on both a 2-week and a 4-month NASA-funded Mars simulation. Dr. Proctor participated in the 2016 Astronomy in Chile Educator Ambassadors Program (ACEAP) where she spent time at the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO), and Gemini observatories and she's returned to Chile every year to engage in astronomy education outreach. She is very excited to be a Solar System Ambassador and to share with you her love of space exploration.
