Courteney Monchinski is currently enrolled in the University of Colorado, Boulder as an undergraduate in the Department of Astrophysics and Planetary Sciences. She is pursuing a degree in Astrophysics, and plans to continue her studies in graduate school and research beyond that. Space has always fascinated her, but she did not think of becoming an astrophysicist until her Sophomore year of high school at the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Sciences. When she was little, she wanted to be a paleontologist, then a marine biologist, then a forensic pathologist, and now, as you know, an astrophysicist. In her Junior year of high school, she affirmed her love of space by completing a research project modeling the collision of an asteroid and an impactor spacecraft and winning first place at her regional science fair. She currently does not know what she specifically wants to study when she becomes and astrophysicist, but she has time to explore what's out there and find out!
