Lori Meier
Lori Meier has had a lifelong interest in space exploration and space history. She is an Associate Professor of Education at East Tennessee State University where she teaches curriculum studies and elementary content to new and veteran K-12 teachers. She has a keen interest in the integration of elementary social studies and space exploration and works to help educators create curious and engaging learning opportunities both in and out of the formal classroom. She has presented on the integration of space exploration and social studies at the National Council for the Social Studies and the International Society for the Social Studies. She is also a member of the American Educational Research Association. Prior to her university teaching in Tennessee, Lori lived on the Space Coast of Brevard County, Florida where she taught sixth grade and experienced many marvelous shuttle and rocket launches. Being around a working spaceport was one of the highlights of her adult life and really brought those childhood backyard-rocket building moments she experienced as a kid to fruition.
