Antonio Martinez
Antonio Martinez was born in Puerto Rico. At the age of six, he became fascinated with an astronomy book. And even though he could not read English, he begged his parents to read and translate it to Spanish. He kept bringing more and more books home. His exasperated parents eventually told him he had to learn to read in English. Undeterred, he kept at it, and learned to read in English. Astronomy and space exploration have continued to fascinate him ever since. Antonio attended Caltech, where he received a BS/MS degree in electronics and has worked as an electronics engineer since. But his hobby and passion is astronomy and space exploration. He built his own Dobsonian telescope, participates in astronomy in the park events, teaches astronomy and brings his telescope to various Boy Scout events, attends a number of astronomy lectures, and organizes trips for his friends to visit observatories. Antonio has lived 25+ years in Los Altos, where he and his wife raised two children. He loves to read books (science fiction, astronomy, economics), has a fascination for languages, and loves classical music and foreign movies.
