Benadette Manning has been a math teacher in Boston and Cambridge public schools for 23 years. She loves project based learning and thus uses a real bee hive in her classroom to help students learn about trigonometry. As an aspiring computer science teacher, she teaches coding when she can fit it in. Her students compete year in the Boston Robotics Olympiad. She says, "If teachers are going to ask students to be brave and try something new, then teachers should practice trying something new themselves." So she actively works to rid herself of her fear: open water by competing in triathlons ( swimming, biking, running). She is a mother of four and a grandmother too!
