Sarah Lamm is a PhD candidate in geology at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She graduated with bachelor's degrees in Chemistry, Geology, and Geography in 2018 and earned her master's degree in 2021 from Kansas State University. She is originally from northwest Kansas and continues to give outreach talks and host outreach events in her home region. Her main annual outreach event is "Rocks & Rockets" in Colby, Kansas, which has been held each August since 2022.

She has completed multiple research internships, including three at Los Alamos National Laboratory, two at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and two at the Lunar and Planetary Institute. At Los Alamos, she worked with the ChemCam Instrument Team on NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover. At NASA JPL and LPI, she developed and optimized machine learning methods to improve the classification accuracy of iron oxide and sulfide minerals.

She has led presentations on a wide range of science topics since 2013. Sarah is comfortable speaking to audiences of different ages and covering many space-related subjects. Her favorite topic is ChemCam because she has direct experience with the instrument.
