Sylvia Kowalski is a life long space nerd, thrilled to bring her love of the universe to her diverse community of Socorro, New Mexico. Her love of science outreach started with her high school courses in astronomy and grew exponentially from there. At the University of Washington (UW), she completed bachelors degrees in Astronomy, Physics and Drama and combines her passions of space and performance to create dramatic, interactive, inclusive and exploration based lessons for all. She has illuminated the wonders of space working at the UW as a planetarian and volunteer lecturer, the Pacific Science Center as a science interpretive educator, worked in the Public Information and Outreach Department of Gemini Observatory, served in Bryce Canyon National Park as an Astronomy Interpretive Ranger and now works as a Radio Telescope Operator for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Very Large Array. When she is not presenting astronomy curriculum, Sylvia is cooking delicious food with her partner, having themed outdoor movie nights with her friends and family and sweating in her dance exercise classes! If you or your organization have ideas for an outreach event, need assistance with your own event or would like to offer feed back regarding an event you attended, please do not hesitate to reach out and Sylvia will get back to you as soon as possible!
