At 3 months old, Leah experienced her first celestial event: the apparition of Halley's Comet from the high planes of Texas. Leah was raised in Fairbanks, Alaska and as a Junior Girl Scout completed the Sky Search badge where she discovered her true love for space. She studied maps of the northern sky and became familiar with the constellations of region. Leah became involved with community organizing as a teenager and has been passionate about education, youth development and human rights ever since.
